RADON GAS

Alabama Residential Inspection Service, L.L.C.  recommends that all homes in North Alabama should
be checked for the presence of Radon gas.

On January 13, 2005 the Surgeon General of the United States issued a Health Advisory warning
Americans about the health risk from exposure to radon in indoor air.

The Nation’s Chief Physician urged Americans to test their homes to find out how much radon they
might be breathing.   Dr. Carmona also stressed the need to remedy the problem as soon as possible
when the radon level is 4 pCi/L or more.  Dr. Carmona noted that more than 20,000 Americans die of
radon-related lung cancer each year.

Radon is the second leading cause of lung cancer.

Radon comes from the natural (radioactive) breakdown of uranium in soil, rock and water and gets
into the air you breathe.

Radon can be found all over the U.S. It can get into any type of building - homes, offices, and schools -
and result in a high indoor radon level. But you and your family are most likely to get your greatest
exposure at home, where you spend most of your time.

According to the EPA and U.S. Geological Survey, homes located in the Counties of Madison,
Limestone, Morgan, and Jackson are designated Zone 1, which represents the highest potential
(Greater than 4 pCi/L) for Radon in the State.  The EPA suggests safe levels to be less than 2 pCi/L.
For more information on Radon you can visit the EPA web site at  http://www.epa.gov,   or another
information site at http://www.aces.edu/radon.

For local area information about RADON and Testing;  contact the Radon Specialist at the Alabama
Cooperative Extension Office - Radon Education Program Phone 256-532-1578.  This person can also
sell you prepaid test kits for $5.00, but these kits take about 3 weeks to get the results back, which is
usually not acceptable in a   real estate transaction.  I recommend the Long Term Radon Test, which
typically costs around $15, and includes everything needed for a 4 month or longer radon gas test,
including lab fee, and postage.

For a fee of $150, Alabama Residential Inspection Services, will perform a 48 hour Radon Gas Test,
